Learning
Outline
Business and Entrepreneurship is designed for 16–17-year-olds who are interested in the fast-moving world of business and want to understand what it takes to succeed in today’s competitive market. Students will explore key topics such as competition, globalisation, macroeconomics, and the marketing mix, gaining a well-rounded understanding of commercial principles. The course will dive into the practical aspects of launching a business in the digital age, focusing on both the financial and strategic elements needed for success. Entrepreneurship has never been more essential, and this course will equip students with the tools to thrive in the ever-changing business landscape. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making it both engaging and relevant. The course also includes a masterclass on critical thinking, along with a reflection session to track progress and set new goals.
Teaching methodology
Learn the Oxford way with tutorial-style teaching. Your expert tutor will foster self-directed learning and critical thinking through interactive seminars in small groups (no bigger than 8). During your course, you will complete two pieces of independent work (essays or problem sheets), which your tutor will then evaluate in either a 1:1 or 2:1 tutorial. Tutorials will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your work and feedback with your tutor and learn new perspectives from your classmates. On completion of the course, you'll receive a certificate and letter of recommendation from your tutor.
The city of Cambridge, with more than 800 years of academic tradition, has long been a centre of enterprise and innovation—producing entrepreneurs, business leaders, and ideas that have shaped industries worldwide. As part of the 16–17 Business and Entrepreneurship programme, you’ll live in a city defined by creativity and forward thinking. The city of Cambridge provides an inspiring backdrop for learning, with its historic colleges, global connections, and a tradition of problem-solving that continues to drive progress.
Accommodation is in single or twin rooms, depending on the tier. Plus lets you choose single or twin; Superior guarantees an ensuite; Premier provides concierge-selected rooms. All include shared spaces and on-course staff support.
Meals are provided on a half-board basis, including breakfast and dinner. Meals are served at the accommodation or at local restaurants, offering a variety of dining options.
The Experience
Innovation drives progress — and this course invites students to discover how entrepreneurs turn ideas into solutions that shape the future. In Cambridge, learners explore key business concepts including strategy, marketing, finance, and leadership while analysing real-world ventures and global industries. Through brainstorming, collaboration, and debate, they develop the mindset required to spot opportunities, solve problems, and think creatively about what business can achieve in society.
Seminar-style learning in groups of no more than eight ensures every student can contribute and grow in confidence. Independent work — such as business proposals or market analyses — is supported with personalised, tutorial-style feedback that sharpens analytical and communication skills. Alongside enriching excursions, college living, and an international student community, the experience builds both academic readiness and real entrepreneurial confidence. Each student leaves with a certificate, a personalised tutor recommendation, and a stronger vision for where their ideas could take them next.
