Learning
Outline
Business and Entrepreneurship is an advanced course designed for 18–24-year-olds who are passionate about taking their business ideas to the next level. Students will explore the strategic aspects of business development, learning how to distinguish between strategy and planning, and how to analyse and refine ideas for success. The course covers essential practical skills, including building a business model, pitching ideas, validating assumptions, creating a minimum viable product, and developing a detailed action plan. Through case studies and personal projects, you will gain hands-on experience that brings theory to life. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, ensuring a relevant and dynamic learning experience. The course also includes a masterclass on business strategy and innovation, along with a reflection session to track progress and set new goals.
Teaching methodology
Learn the Oxford way with tutorial-style teaching. Your expert tutor will foster self-directed learning and critical thinking through interactive seminars in small groups (no bigger than 8). During your course, you will complete two pieces of independent work (essays or problem sheets), which your tutor will then evaluate in either a 1:1 or 2:1 tutorial. Tutorials will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your work and feedback with your tutor and learn new perspectives from your classmates. On completion of the course, you'll receive a certificate and letter of recommendation from your tutor.
The city of Cambridge, with more than 800 years of academic tradition, has long been a hub of enterprise and innovation—from early trading networks to groundbreaking research that drives today’s global economy. As part of the 18–24 Business and Entrepreneurship (Advanced) programme, you’ll live in a city shaped by creativity, problem-solving, and forward-thinking ideas. The city of Cambridge provides an inspiring backdrop for learning, with its historic colleges, thriving innovation hubs, and a tradition of developing leaders and entrepreneurs who shape industries worldwide.
Accommodation is in single or twin rooms, depending on the tier. Superior guarantees an ensuite; and Premier provides concierge-selected rooms. All include shared spaces and on-course staff support.
Meals are provided on a half-board basis (breakfast and dinner), served in college dining halls or at selected local restaurants. Students arrange their own lunch. All dietary requirements are catered for.
The Experience
Entrepreneurship is the driving force behind innovation — from start-ups reshaping industries to organisations tackling global challenges. In Cambridge, students explore strategy, finance, marketing, and leadership while analysing real businesses that have disrupted the status quo. Debates, case studies, and collaborative challenges encourage bold thinking and a clearer understanding of how new ideas gain momentum.
This advanced-level course is designed for students who have completed at least two years of undergraduate study (or equivalent) in a related field. Tutorials are capped at eight participants to ensure rigorous discussion and space to develop commercial reasoning. Two independent assignments receive personalised tutor feedback that strengthens analysis, communication, and decision-making — skills highly valued in both academic and professional settings. Combined with enrichment activities, college-style living, and a global cohort of future changemakers, students leave with a completion certificate, a tailored tutor recommendation, and the confidence to pursue entrepreneurial pathways with purpose.
